A Guide To The Internet In The UK.

There is such a huge assortment of choice when it comes to the Net that it can be quite bewildering. The purpose of this guide is to make the process of setting yourself up online easier.

I have been on the Internet since 1988 (with a 2Kb modem in those days) and have used dial-up telephone line connections, high-speed broadband and satellite links.

At whatever point you are considering entering the Internet market, you will need an Internet Service Provider (ISP). You may merely want to surf the Net and swap emails or you may want your own website too. Let us talk about these in turn.

The most common kind of UK net access at the moment is high-speed broadband, whether it comes from a cable provider or a telephone line, normally offered by BT. If you are still using a dial-up 56 Kb connection, you have a wonderful experience in store for you.

If you are considering going online for the first time, don’t give dial-up a second thought – it is painfully slow, when you have used high-speed broadband.

If you have a cable TV provider, you will almost certainly find it easier to get your connection from your existing supplier, otherwise I suggest going with BT Broadband.

BT has lots of experience, a long-standing good record and are very reasonable too these days. You can read an piece on broadband Internet access by clicking through to BT’s web site.

Most ISP’s will allow you a few email addresses and a limited amount of their disk space to host a personal web site. This might be sufficient for some people, but these days, with lower prices and higher individuality required, I think that most individuals would prefer a more personal web site and the personal email addresses that go with it.

For example: would you rather ‘be referred to as’ (ie have an email address of): owen1954-8@ntlworld.com and a site address of http://ntlworld.com/owen1954-8/index.html or owen@amiabledragon.com and an address of http://amiabledragon.com ?

(These are real examples: I was with NTL before, but have left them and the Amiable Dragon is one of my websites). In this instance, amiabledragon.com is my domain name, so I can put anything I choose before it to create an email address.

It is far more personal AND it can be used for business, if I want, whereas many ISP’s ban the use of their websites for business use. If you decide on having your own domain, then you will have to host it somewhere (ie someone will have to keep it on their computer for you).

Finally, you may like to improve your Net experience by upgrading some of your accessories; for example: buying an optical or radio mouse, a wireless router, a better chair or desk et cetera.

Avoiding Everyday Affiliate Marketing Errors

Affiliate marketing is one of the most effective and powerful ways of earning some revenue on the Internet. Affiliate marketing gives everyone the opportunity to make a profit through the Internet. Since these affiliate marketing opportunities are simple to join and execute and pay commission on a regular basis, more an more people are now joining this industry model.

Nevertheless, like all businesses, there are lots of dangers in the affiliate marketing industry. Committing some of the most frequent mistakes will cost the marketer a large portion of the profit they should be making, which is why it is better to avoid them than be sorry later.

Mistake Number 1: Selecting the Wrong Company.

Most people want to earn from affiliate marketing as quickly as they can. In their rush to be part of a program, they often pick a popular, flash product. This is the type of product that the company thinks is ?hot?. They choose a product that is in high demand without really wondering if the product appeals to themselves. This is not a very wise move.

As an alternative to just jumping on the bandwagon, try to pick a product that you are truly interested in. For any endeavor to be successful, you should take some time to plan your course of action.

Choose a product that appeals to you. Then do some research about that product to see if it is in demand. It is not easy to make money marketing something only you care about.

Mistake Number 2: Joining Too Many Affiliate Schemes.

Since affiliate schemes are very simple to go in with, you might be tempted to join lots oif of affiliate programs to attempt to maximize the income you will be getting. Indeed, you may think that there is nothing wrong with being part of many affiliate schemes.

Certainly, that sounds like a great way to get multiple streams of income. However, joining multiple schemes and attempting to advertise them all at the same time, will preclude you from concentrating on any one of them.

The result? The maximum potential of your affiliate scheme will not be not attained and the income created will not exactly be as titanic as you were thinking that they would. The best way to get the best outcome, is to join just one program that pays a 40% commission at least. Then give it your best effort by promoting the goods passionately. As soon as you see that it is making a reasonable profit, then perhaps you can join another affiliate program.

The technique is to take it slowly but surely. There is in actuality no need to rush into things, especially with affiliate marketing. With the way things are going, the future is looking really bright and it seems affiliate marketing will be around for a long time too.

Mistake Number 3: Not Purchasing the Product or Using the Service.

As an affiliate, your main goal is to successfully and persuasively market a product or service and to find customers. For you to achieve this purpose, you must be able to communicate to the consumers that that particular product or service is worth obtaining. It is therefore hard for you to do this if you yourself have not tried these things out. Therefore, you will fail to advertise and recommend them convincingly. You will also fail to create a craving in your customers to buy any of what you are offering.

Try the product or service in person before you sign up as an affiliate to check if it is really delivering what it promises. If you have done so, then you are one of the credible and living witnesses conscious of its advantages and disadvantages. Your clients will then be aware of the truthfulness in you and this will encourage them to try it out for themselves.

Many affiliate marketers make these mistakes and are paying dearly for their actions. Do not fall into the same trap, do everything you can to avoid making the same mistakes.

Time is the key. Take the time to examine your marketing strategy and check if you are on the right track. If done properly, you will increase your affiliate marketing scheme profits.

The Best Five Ways To Get Visitors

There is one hard and fast rule in generating income for your web site: a perpetual stream of website traffic. If no one goes to your site, it barely has a chance of generating an income. Many sites have tried and failed in doing so, and this results to the web site’s demise. It requires cash to maintain an income-generating site; it also takes money to make money.

BUT, it doesn’t take a whole shed-load of cash to create website traffic for your web site.

Have you ever wondered how big hit websites steer traffic to their site? Most of them spend tons of money to guide traffic to their websites, investing in many promotion strategies and different kinds of advertising schemes and gimmicks.

You don’t have to do this if you don’t have their resources. There are many other ways to generate low cost website visitors without having to spend what you don’t have or can’t afford. Many people have banked on high cost methods and have ended up losing their shirt over it.

Here I want to show you to you the top five ways to create low cost website visitors that can help your website a whole lot. Even if you only turn a minute percentage of visitors into clients, it still works, particularly if you get a high number of website traffic.

1] Exchange Links

This is a sure and proven technique. Rarely would you see a website where there is no link to another web site. Many webmasters are eager to exchange links with one another so that they can make more public awareness of their sites. You’ll soon notice and feel the sudden increase of visitors coming to your web site from other sites.

A major condition in exchanging links with other websites is having the same niche or subject matter as the other web site. They should share a common subject matter so that there is continuity in the provision of service and information that interests your target traffic.

Swapping links also increases your chances of obtaining a high ranking in search engine results. It is common knowledge that search engines rank websites high that have inbound and outbound theme-related links. With a good ranking position in the search engines, you will create more visitors to your website without exhorbitant costs.

2] Traffic Exchanges

This is like exchanging links but on a different level. This will take a lot more work than swapping or trading links but can be cheaper because you earn credits.

People look at someone else’s website, in exchange for someone viewing yours. You both benefit from each others efforts to generate visitors. The other site’s visitors can go to your pages and know more about your website as well as their own. Once again public awareness of your site’s existence is boosted.

3] Write and Submit Articles

There are many e-zines and online encyclopedias on the Internet which provide free space for articles to be submitted. If you want to save costs, you can do the articles yourself. However, there are many freelance writers who are keen to write for you for a small fee, but to save money, it is better to write the articles yourself.

Write articles that are themed with the niche of your web site. Write something that you have knowledge on so that when people read it, they can sense your knowledge on the theme and will be ready to go to your site. Write articles that produce tips and guidelines to the theme or niche your web site has.

Include a resource box at the end of your article that links back to your website. Write a little about yourself and your web site. If you provide an information-laden and interesting article, they will go to your website for more.

4] Provide a Newsletter.

This may sound like hard work because of all the articles you will need to write to build a newsletter but on the contrary, this is not so. There are many writers and websites that are willing to offer free articles as long as they can get their name in your newsletter, because this will also provide free promotion for them as well.

As your newsletter gets passed around, you can extend your public awareness and build an opt-in list that will regularly visit your site.

5] Join Online Communities and Forums

This only requires your time and nothing else. You can share your skill and proficiency with many online communities. You get free marketing when you go to forums that have the identical subject or niche with your site.

Why You Should Consider (Or Not) Garage Floor Tile

Tiles are a fairly well used garage flooring option. They will provide similar protection of the concrete garage floor as paint, but can be quite a bit simpler for the average homeowner to install. This article will address some of the disadvantages and advantages of garage floor tile to provide the reader with an idea of if tiles will be their best option.

Garage Floor Tile Prices

Garage flooring is going to be one of your cheaper and easier home improvement tasks. Garage floor tiles, however, can up the price considerably. Buying a kit that covers a single car garage could set you back anywhere from $200 to over $500, features and brands depending. The only thing that comes close, price wise, is a garage floor mat, so compare the prices between tiles and mats before you decide which one is best for you.

When Should Garage Floor Tile Be Used?

There are two different types of tiles. There are the interlocking type, which are basically square shaped compartment mats that are meant to be connected, and there are the peel and stick type that actually bond to the concrete garage floor. The interlocking type can be used in just about any garage, but probably won’t last as long as the peel and stick type. The peel and stick type, however, can only be used in garages where the original floor is in good shape and not too heavily stained.

A Garage Floor Tile Installation Summary

Excepting mats, depending on which one you use, garage floor tiles are probably the easiest solution to install. Peel and stick tiles are just what they sound like, and interlocking ones snap together. Nothing is difficult about either install. though when using the peel and stick ones, you have to be absolutely sure that the floor is spotless as you wouldn’t want the sticky backing attaching itself to dust and dirt. Since the interlocking garage floor tiles just click together, the install is similar to a mat, and you generally just have to lay it out on the floor without worrying too terribly much about how clean it is. Of course, their inherent design as well as any dust or dirt can cause them to move and crunch when you don’t want them to.

Maintaining Garage Floor Tile

For most garage floor tiles, maintenance is similar to what you would do on a linoleum floor. Since they are designed to be sprayed off, and generally do not absorb chemicals, cleaner is not often necessary, and generally a wet mop is all that is needed. Abrasive garage flooring cleaners obviously should not be used since those are usually made for concrete. Instead, if soap is needed, your average floor cleaner will usually do the trick. Be sure to read the directions of your particular product, though, as some types of cleaners may affect the finish on your garage floor tile.
