One Of The US Auto Industry Big Three – Chrysler LLC
Chrysler history all began way back in the year 1908 when Walter P. Chrysler began his business by taking part at a Chicago auto show. He was thirty three years old and was employed by the railways. But, automobiles was his true love and when he saw a white colored Locomobile he fell for it and went into debt just so that he could own it. Then followed many months of tinkering about this car and it was only later that he learned how to drive this car.
In the prevailing four years, Mr. Chrysler’s fascination for automobiles became a career. As a production manager for Buick, he worked hard and became the president as well as the General Manager of a GM division. This was his first engagement with the automobile industry. As leaving his employ at his previous auto industry employer, in 1920, he revived the unsuccessful Willys Overland Company and then went on to repeat his successful triumph with yet another job with a somewhat known firm called Maxwell Chalmers. During 1924, he was acknowledged in launching his first car to the public that have had his name.
It only took three more years for Chrysler to accomplish a great success during the time which he had purchased out Maxwell that became the stepping stone in making the well-known car manufacturing company called Chrysler. He created both DeSoto and Plymouth automobiles, as well as the Dodge and Chrysler automobiles.
In his futuristic design, the 1934 Airflow, it did not sell as much profit as the others did, but the company persevered throughout the Great Depression of the 1930’s – The “Dirty Thirties”. In World War II, the company was tasked in manufacturing military vehicles. The next landmark in the Chrysler history was Hemi V8 engine which was launched in 1951. Since then, Chrysler has led the way in developing new technologies from scratch and has always helped the company in being able to create high quality cars.
The next major landmark in Chrysler history was the introduction of Hemi V8 engine which took place in 1951. The 60’s Ford Mustang Little More Than The Economy Falcon Auto
When the innovative and trendsetting Ford Mustang automobile legend was introduced to the market, nobody expect its extraordinary increase in sales and fame to automobile enthusiast. It was Jon Najjar and Robert Eggert responsible to make them happened. Ford Motor Company introduced Mustang at the New York World’s Fair in April 17, 1964. Mustang was new design base on the combination of Thunderbird and Ford Falcon.Under the leadership of Ford Company president Robert McNamara Ford had pioneered such concepts as automobile safety and the conceptual marketing of “economy cars” rather than the “big boats” that the market leader G.M. ( General Motors) was famous for. The Ford Falcon was Ford’s very successful economy car model. Essentially the Mustang was built on this proven platform. Ford’s costs and time needed to bring the Mustang to market were little in comparison to a totally brand new product. Production problems as well were not an issue. Hence Ford could readily introduce a very reasonably and low priced sporty product for “60’s” generation and ramp up production in a snap.
After the introduction of its first release in April 17, 1964, Mustang had a new look when Larry Shinoda joined the company. His venture to Ford Company gave way to Sports Roof Mustang models that has three-tail lamps for better rear view vision. In the decade of the 1970’s, Ford created heavier and bigger version of Mustang autos. It uses Knudsen design having Torino or Fairline sheet metal. Unfortunately, this model didn’t last long in the market because most customers preferred fuel miles per gallon gasoline saving cars. On the other hand, Mustang 351 Cleveland was the most popular car during this year due to its special features like hidden shield wrappers, bolt-on faade, wraparound instrumentation, and incredible engine.
After joining Ford Company, Larry Shinoda and other GM Engineers conceptualized Mustang’s next model. Sports Roof has an amazing sporty design but cheaper in cost. This model used three-element tail-lamps for enhance vision while on the road specifically at the rear. The next mustang produced during the 1970’s was heavier and larger. It uses Torino / Fairline sheetmetal foundation base on Knudsen’s plan. However, it didn’t stay long in the market because there was more demand in safety and fuel economy cars. Ford produced amazing models like Boss 351, 429 Cobra Jet and 351 Cleveland. However, 351 C became more prominent due to its hidden wind shield wipers, wraparound instrumentation, modular bolt-in dash board, bolt-on facade, and amazing engine.
Mustang II was the smaller model of the 1965 Mustang. It has been released in 1974 with enhance features like embedded bolt-on outlook with sub-frame to isolate engine harmonics. The power of Mustang II was lessen to save more fuel. It has been released at time when oil supply was unavailable. King Cobra did not live long, though it was designed as an evolution of Mustang II. Thus it gave way to the 1979 Mustang which was based on larger Fox platform with enhanced interior suitable for four persons at the back seat. The trunk, as well as the engine was enlarge to have easy engine maintenance. It has high-end suspension with turbo-charging capability. On the other hand, ‘79 Mustang was used in the Indianapolis 500 Pace Car. In effect, Form Company produced 10,000 replicas to meet the demand.
In the 1990’s, Ford released enhanced Fox-4 models which heavier with less power. Ford also released more enhanced engines like 4.6L SOHC and DOHC V-8s which was used in the GT and SVT Cobra. No one knows what will be the next 2010 Mustang model. It can be an enhanced 2005 SN197, which is said to be by more than one Ford Mustang aficionado perhaps the safest mode ever of the rat pack.
Citroen C3 Picasso 1.6 VTi – Now This Is Something
Here is a tricky one : why do some hate french cars ? Renault, Citroen, Peugeot make nice cars, great designs and most of them have good engines. Their only big problem is the auto parts costs, which is very high ( this is one of the reasons french don`t go do auto service too much, they prefer buying another car ), but else, the french models are quite nice.
One model that is indeed special is the new Citroen C3 Picasso 1.6 VTi – you can check out the looks of this car and I am sure I do not have to say anything about the engine. A small car with such a powerful engine is like a miniatural beast, you won`t even know when it bites you. Many have rated the engine of the Citroen C3 Picasso 1.6 VTi with a 7, on a scale from one to ten, but I would have went one grade higher, up to an eight.
Fuel consumption is not that great though, but you cannot make an agresive car with low fuel consumption, unless you`re japaneese. Here is where I would grade the car with a five. Now we`ll move on to the interior, which I would like to describe it in just one word : fantastic! Ten out of ten, if you`ll ask me and that is really great for a french car that uses a lot of plastic when designing the inside.
Quality price report is allright. Its not expensive for what it has to offer. The starting price for a Citroen C3 Picasso 1.6 VTi is 11.990 euro with VAT included, which is not that much comparable with, lets say, an Opel Meriva. The only serious competition regarding this report would be the Ford Fusion, but some would not choose the second one because of the dull design.
Now here is the question: Would you pick a used toyota cars for sale or a used ford cars for sale instead of a new french car, if the driving and confort options would be a bit better ?
American CompaniesEmbrace Ford’s Transit Connect
The Ford Motor Company has had great success with their Transit Connect model in Europe. Now this economical, mid-sized work van is available in the U.S. and it has begun to catch on. Made to be flexible, fuel efficient and affordable, American business owners are rapidly getting hooked with this uncommon new Ford.
ThyssenKrupp Elevator, the largest producer of elevators in North America has begun trading in their large cargo vans and trucks for Transit Connects. The company is focused on reducing fuel consumption and the Transit Connect’s EPA of 22 mpg city and 25 mpg highway. Over half of the company’s vehicles are operated by service mechanics that do not need a big vehicle but must have a payload capacity of approximately 1,200 pounds. The Transit Connect was a logical choice.
ThyssenKrupp Elevator currently owns 90 Transit Connects, has another 50 on order and plans to swap up to 1,500 cargo vans and larger vehicles with the Transit Connect. The company refurbishedthe cargo area of their Transit Connects to maximize storage for tools and parts. Beyond reduced fuel costs and the customized cargo space the company also enjoys thespacious interiorandextended visibility from the large front and side windows and mirrors.
Edible Arrangements International is also excited about the Transit Connect. The specialty fruit bouquet company is currently using 20 Transit Connects in its fleet of delivery vehicles and intends to purchase 15 to 20 more in the near future. Company employees find the Transit Connect easier to load and unload than a cargo van because doors open on both sides of the vehicle. They also find it easier to navigate through neighborhoods and park in small spaces.
Edible Arrangements opted to add shelves to their Transit Connects and worked with Ford and a third party vendor to build an electric driven refrigerated cargo area. The companyenjoys the unique styling of the Transit Connect because it is eye-catching. With almost 90% of the exterior surface of the Transit Connect available for graphics, the vehicles also double as mobile billboards.
Even though the Transit Connect has only been here for a brief timeit seems to be gaining popularity. It has already been bestowed the 2010 North American Truck of the Year and with a price point of around $21,500 businesses will be flocking to buy them. It’s possible this adaptable reasonably priced, fuel efficient vehicle will revolutionize the way we think about work trucks and utility vehicles in the future.
