A Review Of The Ford Expedition

If you have a big family and looking or just looking for a vehicle that can seat a large number of people then consider the Expedition from Ford. This large vehicle can seat up to 8 individuals and offers tons of storage space as well as the ability to tow. Gas mileage isn’t too great but that’s to be expected from such a big vehicle.

When it comes to size the Expedition is not a lightweight player; she weighs in at over five thousand pounds. Horsepower stands at 310 hp and torque is at 365 lb feet; more than enough to carry the hefty auto around thanks to an eight cylinder 5.4 Liter engine. If you need to tow a trailer or anything else then the Expedition is the SUV for the job; towing capacity is over nine thousand pounds.

The seats are super comfortable with plenty of room even for tall individuals. The dashboard and instrument clusters are laid out well and easy to use. Ford’s SYNC system does not come standard on the base model but can be added at a cost.

Let’s take a look at a few of the safety features. Standard traction control adjusts engine power and braking pressure as needed. A keyless entry pad is available which lets you enter the vehicle without having to use a key; all you have to do is just key in a security code. Other safety features include AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control, six airbags and seatbelts with pre-tensioners that tighten up during critical moments.

If you are looking for a solid SUV that has strong towing capacity then take a closer look at the Expedition. It also offers a large amount of space to store all of your sporting goods or whatever else you would like. Pricing for the 2011 model starts at $37,070

Famous Cars From The Movies

Cars can really set the tone and mood on the silver screen. Nothing says sophistication and class like an Aston Martin and few other cars can emphasize the “tough guy” or “bad boy” image like a good old fashioned American muscle car, whether it be a Ford Mustang or Chevy Camaro. Here is a list of the most famous and memorable cars to ever hit the big screen.

Aston Martin DB5 “GoldFinger”- This British car maker is well known for its fast and gorgeous luxury vehicles. The gorgeous DB5 has made an impressive appearance in both “Goldfinger” and “Thunderball” movies from the James Bond franchise. The actual DB5 model that was driven by Sean Connery in the movie was recently purchased at a British auction at the price $4.6 million dollars. The DB5 sports a 4.0 Liter engine and is able to reach top speeds of up to 145 mph.

Ford Coupe-”American Graffiti”- The 1932 Deuce coupe is memorable for its final drag race scene in the cult classic movie “American Graffiti”. This bright yellow ride comes with a V8 3.6 Ltr engine and puts out 60 hp. Deuce’s role emphasizes the significance of the Ford brand in popular American culture.

Bumblebee-”Transformers “- Bumblebee is the yellow Chevy Camaro driven by the actor Shia LeBouf. Who can forget that scene where he picks up Megan Fox where she takes a look under Bumblebee’s hood? Bumblebee is bright and yellow with daring black stripes. Unfortunately Bumblebee was involved in a recent car accident which was not written in the script. She was hit on the side by a police SUV in Washington DC. If you want to have a Camaro that looks just like this car, now you can, thanks to Chevrolet’s Transformers Special Edition package for the Camaro. This will get you Autobot insignia fender bags and wheel caps and more Autobot insignias in the console in addition to the yellow and black exterior.

Ford Edge-”Quantum Of Solace” – I watched this movie in theaters and could hear the audience gasp in shock as Mr Bond emerged from a Ford Edge, of all cars. This wasn’t just any Ford Edge, but an environmentally friendly Ford Edge powered by a hydrogen fuel cell.

Delorean DMC 12-”Back To The Future”- This vehicle achieves the impossible and breaks the laws of quantum physics. In the movie the DMC is able to travel back in time when hitting exact speeds of 88 mph. In our book, that makes the Delorean one of the coolest cars ever.

Mustang GT-”Bullitt”-The iconic Mustang GT can be seen in an intense scene in the flick “Bullitt”, which was released in 1968. The car is super powerful for its time and as a matter of fact, it’s still powerful for today! Equipped with an impressive a V8 engine with 325 HP, this smooth and cool ride had a major role in an intense seven minute car chase scene.

These cars have all grown to be super famous, a good example is the DB5 which sold for over 4 million dollars. Take a closer look at the cars in the background the next time you go to the cinema, you might just be looking at a future star!

The Allure of Vintage Ford Vehicles

Ford cars have constantly been synonymous with American pride and custom. One of the biggest automobile manufacturers today, the Ford brand is understood all around the planet and has been attached with a tag of sturdiness and quality. These are the same qualities it has saved thru the years and more than a century after the brand had been showcased, a number of its autos from its early and mid productions still ply American streets, if not, vintage car shows.

This doesn’t suggest though that Ford just churned out one auto after another leaving quality behind. To the contrary, because they were able to produce automobiles at a fast rate, they managed to concentrate fully on their research and development which permitted them to come up with high standard cars.

This high quality has permitted a number of their vehicles from the post second world war age to still be street deserving today. Vintage Ford cars have numerous commotion from Ford loyalists and though a full working and new-like condition is next to impossible to find, plenty still invest their time, money and efforts in restoring them.

Some of the more popular vintage vehicles by Ford produced in the 50s and the sixties where the Fairlane, Thunderbird, Falcon, Galaxie, Torino, LTD and naturally, the Mustang. Many of these make and models were paying homage to the muscle cars that ruled the American vehicle industry and market in that era. Gigantic powerful engines and loud roaring were characteristic of these muscle vehicles and they were specifically American.

Owning and maintaining vintage Ford autos, like the Mustang, today will entail some cost. This is because vintage Ford parts might be hard to come by. For some cars, the parts may be more easy to find due to the vast number of their production. Due to this, parts might be lifted from the other vehicles with the same make and model and they can be employed to revive other cars.

This though is time consuming as you still have to go to junk yards. For a less complicated time, you will just scour the internet for these parts. Just make sure that you get the right ones.

You can never go wrong with vintage Ford automobiles. They’re an American tradition and they can provide you with that certain excellence that makes folk turn their heads to take a look at the autos. As an owner of a completely restored vintage Ford car, this can surely make you proud.

NASCAR Shouldn’t Lose its Soul

The Car of Tomorrow is just a simple design where teams slap either a Ford, Dodge, Chevy, or Toyota sticker on the front of it. To me, this seems like a waste of stickers if you’re going to run cars that all look the same and don’t put brands on them.

The parts come from a wide variety of auto makers and have little to do with the Chevy, Toyota, Dodge, or Ford sticker that may be slapped onto the front of it. While some like the fact that giving all drivers similar cars makes things more fair (so that the best driver wins), this can’t be good for the actual car companies, as it removes the personal connection that so many fans feel to the brands.

These cars should definitely be more affiliated with their sponsoring auto makers. Sales of cars are often hugely driven by a brand’s success on the NASCAR season, and I fear that a continued push in the direction of the Car of Tomorrow will force a disconnect between NASCAR fans and the importance of an auto brand.

In tying the brand directly to the car being used, I’m not exactly sure who it hurts. The brands obviously win out, and I really don’t see any fans being offended by it, let alone losing interest in the races each week.

The displacements such as the power trains should also resemble the sponsoring auto maker. To do anything else paints an inaccurate picture about the brand and makes things seem more like stock cars.

All they should really need to do is to drive with an engine made by the car sponsoring them. Again, it adds a personal connection to the brand that many will lack should the Car of Tomorrow prevail.

On an unrelated note, I also took offense to last year’s races, during a time where gas prices were at an all-time high, yet the cars burned through gallons and gallons like there was no tomorrow during races. Many fans I know felt this was done in poor taste, and favor a shift to ethanol.

This could help NASCAR get some good publicity by using no gas in their cars. I have heard about many people who dislike NASCAR saying that they hate how they use so much gas. By changing to ethanol they could maybe pick up some of these fans. If gas prices were to hit 4 dollars again i think they could lose some regular fans when they realize the MPG of the cars.
